New initiatives at OrionHealth Vancouver for Punjabi clients
Clients of Punjabi origin experience difficulties with understanding our written and audio material. As our programs have a large educational basis we felt that these clients were at a disadvantage in when participating in our programs.
Although clients with language difficulties are provided with interpreters to assist them, we believed that providing materials in Punjabi would allow them to access the educational and skill building material directly. We have produced self-regulation/relaxation CDs in Punjabi and are also in the process of having much of the educational material translated into Punjabi.
Having educational materials available to Punjabi clients will lead to these clients being able to become more involved in their rehabilitation and experience a greater level of success in understanding and applying what we are teaching them about return to function and pain management.
