Consultant Occupational Therapist
Gary Eng has worked as an occupational therapist at OrionHealth across 3 of our 4 clinics in the lower mainland. He has developed a wide range of skills in the context of vocational rehabilitation, including functional capacity evaluations (FCE’s), work hardening, job demands analysis, ergonomic assessments, and graduated return to work planning. He has worked with numerous workers and employers to facilitate safe and successful return to work. His areas of clinical expertise include providing treatment for soft-tissue injuries, complex orthopaedic injuries, cumulative trauma, geriatric mental health, chronic pain, neurological disorders, and traumatic brain injury. With his defined skills in community-based rehabilitation and case management, he is able to facilitate successful return to daily living activities, community re-integration, and the removal of environmental barriers through the development of structured and graded activation programs, implementation of cognitive remediation and compensatory training, and the prescription of adaptive aids including functional safety equipment, assistive technology, power mobility, and vehicle modifications. Gary is also fluent in the Chinese languages, Cantonese and Mandarin.
Qualifications & Memberships:
• Registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of BC (COTBC)
• Member of the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT)
• Graduate of McMaster University (Master of Science in Occupational Therapy), and the University of British Columbia (Bachelor of Music)
• Completed Roy Matheson and Associates Industrial Rehabilitation Functional Capacity Evaluation Program
• Certified as a Work Capacity Evaluator (Roy Matheson and Associates Industrial Residency Program)
• Approved provider for WorkSafeBC FCE’s and Community Occupational Therapy
